Martin is truly a craftsman dedicated to using cutting edge tools and products to achieve a beautiful finish that will stand the test of time. As a keen DIY’er, with experience of painting furniture (and the heartbreak of watching it chip), I knew enough to know that painting a kitchen is a job for an expert, with access to professional paint. I’m so glad I found Martin. I admit that I was impressed by his list of high profile, international clients, and feared I wouldn’t be able to afford him. So I was blown away when his quote was more than reasonable and I felt offered great value for money. Having my kitchen painted has cost me 80% less than the cost of replacing it, and I couldn’t be more delighted by the transformation. What was a dark, claustrophobic cave, is now a light and airy haven. If you are considering having your kitchen painted, talk to Martin.

We were weighing up replacing our kitchen of 25 years which had been looking very tired for the past five years - but decided to do a renovation instead. We were a little hesitant, as some of the doors were in a poor state, but Martin put our minds to rest - and helped us decide on the right colours to give the kitchen a new look. Over the next ten days Martin worked wonders to make the cabinets look brand new while still allowing us to use the kitchen as his dustless sanding system meant we didn’t even have to empty the cupboards. We both felt that Martin was a delight to have in the house - keen to advise but eager to hear our thoughts. We now have a beautiful kitchen with a perfect finish that looks and feels brand new - but without the disruption and cost of a new one.

We have had a very positive experience using Martin to repaint our maple kitchen. It now looks like a new kitchen and we are thrilled to bits with the result having been slightly nervous at the thought of having our natural wood kitchen painted.

Martin was very helpful in advising us on colours and the colour he recommended was spot on! He was meticulous in his preparation and I couldn't believe how little dust there was after he had sanded down all the units.

I was able to use the kitchen once he had left each day as the paint he uses dries so quickly so I really felt there was minimum disruption to me.

He is a perfectionist which showed in the final result. He was great company and a pleasure to have in the house and I was more than happy to leave him when I had to go out.

I would definitely recommend him and would certainly call on his services again. One word of warning - make sure you have plenty of coffee!

Having taken the step to bring new life to our worn out, old pine kitchen of yesteryear, it was with a little apprehension that we awaited the outcome. We couldn't have made a better decision than to employ Martin Guest to make this transformation.

From the outset it was clear that Martin is a true craftsman and a \"Master of his Art\". His knowledge, immaculate work and attention to detail is second to none. Martin is never happy until every little element is perfect. In addition he was a pleasure to have around. Very polite, always punctual and a very tidy worker.

After a great deal of research and deliberation we finally decided to have our waxed pine kitchen painted and we found Martin Guest on The Traditional Painter website. We felt that trying to paint the kitchen ourselves was too big a job. After emailing Martin photos and following a couple of phone calls and emails we agreed his quote. The dust free sanding that was advertised was exactly that; our own DIY sander fills the house with dust whereas Martins unit was fantastic.

The large amount of old wax on our units did pose a few problems for him and took longer than expected to remove but once painting began it progressed uneventfully apart from me changing my mind on one of the colours when the undercoat was put on which resulted in an urgent overnight delivery of new paint! We chose paint colours to blend in with the existing wall and floor tiles and decided that painting all the units the same colour would not look as effective as different colours so we had a dark colour (London Clay) on our dresser and island unit and a lighter stone colour on the other units.

So we are very pleased with the final result and with the attention to detail and quality of the workmanship that Martin gave during the work.

Martin really was a super find on a Google search when I was looking for a specialist kitchen painter and I was very lucky he managed to help me with this project.

His workmanship is outstanding and has created a flawless finish. It was super value as it's a lot cheaper than buying a brand-new kitchen but looks just as good - we are absolutely thrilled.

Martin was very tidy in his work , very conscientious and respectful , and a lovely chap to have in your home. He obviously has a great eye for detail himself and was able to offer sound advice on colours schemes, paints and general decorating ideas .

We had bought a converted barn with a long list of jobs and projects attached. It was formerly owned by a very nice lady who regrettably had a penchant for cream and peach which had unfortunately extended to the kitchen. It was going to have to go but which way forward? Having removed the tiles we were left with the rather tired units and contemplated the installation of an entirely new kitchen. But wait....we came across the wonderful Martin Guest through the Traditional Painter website and made a cautious overture. We did not know quite what the outcome would be, but need not have worried. Martin re-assured us about our choice of colours and proceeded to execute the most marvellous transformation. It is quite something to dispel the appearance of laminated units and give them the appearance of handcrafted cupboards. Some strange alchemy at work here! Painting has never had such artistry. Our kitchen, installed 25-30 years ago, was very tired looking and in need of refurbishment/replacement. Being of good quality we decided to refurbish. traditionalpainter.com was one of the first sites we came across and this led us to Martin. What luck, following emails and telephone conversations - which only confirmed we had made the right choice - Martin arrived, protected the new flooring and work surfaces, removed an embarrassing amount of grime from all the surfaces to be painted, sanded with an amazing dust collection system then primed and painted to a marvellous standard. All with a minimum amount of disruption. The result is a total transformation with which we are completely satisfied. Thanks Martin for all your advice, skills and unfailing good humour. Very many thanks for the job you did hand painting our kitchen. Having had it painted before by someone else without much success, I was initially quite nervous about having it done again. Any concerns I may have had were immediately dispelled from the moment you came in.

Not only were a a very personable and engaging person but the quality of your work was far above what I was hoping for. The preparation work from protecting and masking surrounding areas to the degreasing and dust free sanding of the units was way superior to anything I have seen before.

The paintwork looks more like a spray finish than hand finish - quite exceptional and nothing was left to chance and your attention to detail staggering and, what's more, my dog loved you.

After contacting Martin in March we were very impressed that we were kept up to date on how we would fit into his schedule, he advised us it would be sometime in November and was true to his word. The wait was really worth it! Martin is completely professional in every area of his work, a true artisan. At the same time it was a pleasure to have him working in our home. There was a minimum of disruption and absolutely no dust, even with copious sanding. Our two Schnauzers adored him, not sure if it was the pocket full of treats or they thought he was one of them due to his extensive beard.
